Person Specification – Teaching Assistant

You must be a recent graduate who has a natural flair for working with pupils. Psychology/Social work graduates are usually well suited to this role, however all degree subjects will be accepted. Resilience is key for this role and you will be good at building relationships with pupils. Most pupils at this unit may have challenging behaviour/Special Educational Needs. You do not need to have worked with pupils of this background before, but a willingness to learn is essential.

About the role – Teaching Assistant

In this exciting role, you will be working closely with a class teacher supporting a class of up to 10. Most pupils will be in Key Stage 3 but may have lower learning abilities. Good behaviour management is essential for this position and you must have a good understanding of individual student’s needs. The school is looking for a Teaching Assistant who may have worked in a challenging environment with children or young people previously. You will support in the classroom, small groups and individuals on a one to one basis to ensure pupils are exceeding their targets and making good levels of progress.

You will join the Pupil Referral Unit as a Teaching Assistant this November. The Headteacher of this PRU wants to recruit a passionate individual who can truly make an impact.
