About the college:

  • Location: Greenwich

  • Full time: Monday – Friday College hours 8-5 (Term time only)
  • 35 hours per week
  • 39 weeks per year

Sixth form learning support assistant – the role:

  • 1-year temporary contract
  • September 2024 – June 2025
  • Assisting the teacher to prepare the classroom and to prepare learning materials. To prepare the classroom equipment and computers for use by learners ensuring that equipment or materials are suitable for the learning activities and prepare, design and adapt other materials where necessary.
  • Assisting the teacher in the planning and delivery of class activities.
  • To undertake training and continuing professional development (CPD) in accordance with contractual requirements.
  • To contribute to the management of learner behaviour in and outside of the classroom.
  • To pass on information about learners personal and educational needs to parents, the class teacher and other staff as appropriate.
  • To contribute to team meetings and review meetings.

 

Candidate Specification – what the college are looking for:

  • 2:1 or 1st class degree
  • Excellent organisation and communication skills
  • Relevant experience is preferred
  • Strong academic background
  • Experience working within a team is essential.
  • Ability to empathise with young people who experience a wide range of special educational needs and place the student at the centre of the learning process
  • Strategies for challenging discrimination, promoting racial equality and for helping learners learn about minority ethnic and cultural diversity and for promoting positive attitudes to disability.
