Reading Support Mentor – key information

  • English Graduate role
  • Excellent role prior to teacher training
  • Work with pupils on a 1:1 and small group basis
  • Full-time role for one academic year
  • Work Monday – Friday, school hours, paid up to £550 per week
  • January start – interviewing ASAP

Person Specification – Reading Support Mentor

  • 2:1 or above English degree
  • You must be available from January 2025 – July 2025
  • Previous tutoring experience would be advantageous
  • Resilience, determination and commitment is key to this role
  • Willingness to adhere to local safeguarding arrangements, data protection, and other compliance protocols

About the role – Reading Support Mentor

You will be required to support KS3 pupils who have low reading levels and need intervention to increase their achievements. You will set short term goals with the class teachers for individual pupils and support the pupils in achieving these. This role has a mixture of pastoral and academic duties so you will have a variety of experience across the whole school. In addition to this you will assist the class teacher in lessons ensuring progress is being made.
