Head of English  – about the role

• Lead a team of 10 English Teachers + additional TA’s
• Mixture of NQTs, RQT, Teach First and experienced Teachers
• Assisted by a 2^nd in Department and Lead English Practitioner
• Responsible for the coordination of Teachers and implementing the curriculum
• Monitor and develop high quality teaching and learning
• Provide training and support for your department
• Liaise with senior leaders and other department heads

Head of English – Person Specification:

• Proven excellent as a classroom teacher
• Ideal for a 2ic English Teacher / current Head of Department
• Good to Outstanding teacher observation grades
• Strong classroom management
• Experience of involvement and impact at faculty level
• Unwavering commitment to improving the life chances of young people
