 Autism 1-1 Support Assistant – Role Description

  • Autism Teaching Assistant
  • Support a child with Autism on a 1:1 basis, both academically and pastorally
  • Work within a main classroom setting but creating specialised sessions
  • Great opportunity to work alongside a qualified teacher and experience school life
  • Long-term role, shortlisting now
  • Full-time position, Mon – Fri
  • £425 – £475 per week
  • Deliver Maths and English intervention support
  • Help with emotional support
  • Act as a good role model for all pupils

 Autism Teaching Assistant – Experience and Qualifications

  • 2:1 or above in any subject (Psychology based degree would be advantageous)
  • Strong academic background e.g. A-levels and GCSEs
  • Prior experience as a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant, Tutor, or other relevant fields such as Youth Work or Support Worker roles would be advantageous.
  • Desire to support pupils with SEN.
  • Aspirations to become an SEN Teacher, Educational Psychologist, or SENDCO
  • Proactive and engaging personality
