Did you know that every year we offer a 12 month sandwich year placement to an MMU student looking to gain some exciting experience in an office environment? For the past 5 years we have hired a Compliance and Sales Trainee to join us on a 12 month industrial placement as part of their university course! The placement offers unique experience across three major parts of our business: compliance, marketing and sales. We recently asked some of our past and present i-teachers placement students to provide us with a small testimonial about their placement. Read on to find out what Jack, Izzy and Eve loved about their time with us!
Meet Jack!
Jack joined us as our 12 month placement student in 2018/2019. At the time, Jack was studying Sports Marketing and Management at Manchester Metropolitan University. Jack continued to support the team on a part time basis whilst studying for his MSc in Digital Marketing Communications. Upon graduation, Jack is now with i-teachers full time as an Education Consultant! Here’s what Jack has to say about his placement:
’I first joined i-teachers in 2018 as a Sales and Compliance Trainee on my placement year from Manchester Metropolitan University! As i-teachers is a smaller than usual Education Consultancy, I was able to play a substantial part over a variety of different areas in the business such as candidate attraction, compliance for candidates, social media marketing and advertising and regularly supporting consultants in day to day tasks such as information regarding schools.
Upon completion of my placement year I was fortunate to stay on as a resourcer, and had the opportunity to take on a more prominent role in supporting i-teachers consultants through finding the highest quality graduates across the United Kingdom looking to get into teaching!
After finishing my MSc in September 2021 I became an Education Consultant for i-teachers in the East Midlands, starting a brand new area and again looking to find top quality teaching talent across the UK! I made the decision to join i-teachers permanently for a number of reasons, most prominently the fact that there’s a real family feel around the office with a strong inclusive ethos and a desire to reach our potential!’’
Meet Izzy!
Izzy is an International Business Management student from MMU who joined the team back in 2020 as our placement student. Since then, Izzy has continued to support the team whilst in her final year of university and looks forward to joining the team on a full time basis after graduation!
“Hi, I’m Izzy and I’m a final year International Business Management student at MMU. I completed my 12-month placement as part of my course at i-teachers last year and I absolutely loved every moment!
I found that the placement really suited me personally as it was so broad and varied. I gained experience in compliance, marketing and sales during my 12 months and was able to find out which aspects I really enjoyed and developed skills in! Some of my favourite parts of the placement were introducing TikTok’s to the team’s social media and taking on the management of our social media platforms! Although now back at university, I continue to support the team on a part-time basis and look forward to continuing with my i-teachers family after graduation!”
Meet Eve!
Finally, meet Eve! Eve is our current placement student at i-teachers and is an Advertising and Brand Management student at Manchester Metropolitan University. Here’s what she has to say about her placement experience so far:
“Hi, I’m Eve, a third year MMU student studying Advertising and Brand Management, currently on my sandwich placement year at i-teachers. Throughout my placement, I have developed a variety of vital work skills, transferable skills and experience working in an office environment. I have developed my skills in sales, marketing and compliance throughout my placement. Overall, I am really enjoying my placement year with i-teachers as I have gained amazing office experience and developed vital skills in the workplace, while working with a lovely team”.

It’s the time of the year that we begin our search for our next placement student! Are you an MMU student on a business related course? Are you looking for a 12 month placement for your sandwich year working in an exciting and dynamic environment?
The role will see you gaining experience in three exciting departments:
- Compliance – The compliance role is admin orientated, which requires a great deal of organisation, a duty of care and excellent communication skills. This is invaluable prior to a sales-based role and will allow you to work with our consultants closely to ensure our candidates get out to interview.
- Sales – You will see first-hand what it takes to be a successful recruitment consultant and understand more about the day-to-day tasks, taking on some of these responsibilities yourself. This includes writing and posting adverts, shortlisting candidates sourcing CV’s.
- Marketing – You will have the opportunity to present ideas for our growing social media platform and manage campaigns/posting on these. This includes LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram and Facebook.
