We are continuing with our series showcasing our amazing i-teachers’ consultants and their stories! Our i-teachers family are passionate about making a difference within education and all have their own fantastic journey to share.
This week, meet Abbey! Abbey is an Education Recruitment Consultant on our London desk and joined the i-teachers team last year!
Tell us a bit about you and your history!
“I studied Philosophy, Ethics and Religion at The University of Leeds and during this time I moved to Spain to work in a school, as I had previously worked as a teaching assistant in a primary school and loved it. I worked in a primary school in Murcia for a year before moving home and graduating from university. After graduating all I wanted to do was teach more, so I moved to China and taught English in Shenzhen. Living in China was so different than anywhere I’d lived before but I loved it!”
Why did you choose recruitment as a career?
It was Abbey’s passion for teaching that drove her to seek a career in the Education Recruitment sector as she knew she had the potential to really make a difference! “I was interested specifically in Education Recruitment because I wanted to help graduates find careers as teaching assistants and teachers as they are both rewarding careers I know they’ll love!”
What do you enjoy most about working at i-teachers?
“I like working for i-teachers because the team is so close-knit. I worked remotely for my first 9 months at the company and hadn’t met any of my colleagues until my first day in the office last month, but even though I was just a face on their Teams screen, everyone made me feel so supported and part of the team! I’m also lucky to work closely with 3 other consultants within the London team, the 4 of us work collaboratively across London and everyone is really supportive and always there if you need help (or even just a pick me up!).”
