Over the coming weeks we will be doing a series showcasing our amazing i-teachers’ consultants and their stories! Our i-teachers family are passionate about making a difference within education and all have their own fantastic journey to share!
First up, meet Andrew! Andrew joined the i-teachers team in June 2019 and is an Education Consultant on our London desk. He is extremely passionate about the education sector and truly wants to make a positive impact and help graduates and teachers move into their dream roles. Outside of work, Andrew is a huge Arsenal fan so loves to watch the football!
Tell us a bit about you and your history!
Andrew studied History and Politics at university and originally wanted to be a Primary School Teacher! “Initially I wanted to become a Primary School Teacher whilst studying for my History and Politics degree, so I gained some TA experience. When it came down to it, I found that it wouldn’t quite be for me. After some deliberation, I started volunteering within the Arts and Heritage sector and decided to study an MA in Art Gallery and Museum Studies at the University of Manchester as this is another passion of mine. I was about to finish my MA and came to a bit of a crossroads in terms of what I wanted to do with my career”.
Why did you choose recruitment as a career?
“I wanted to be able to be in control of my own career and earn as much money as possible! I knew I had a strong work ethic, so it was just about finding the right type of role/industry for me. It was important for me to be able to be in a position where I could ‘give back’ to my family after all their support growing up and throughout my studies. Another driver for me was that I wanted a career that rewarded my work ethic financially and with recognition and here I am 4 years on!”.
What do you enjoy most about working at i-teachers?
“The thing that I enjoy about working at i-teachers it that it is all about the team and working together to ensure we hit our goals and vision as a business. I have worked in various other places but the relationships that we have with each other at i-teachers is genuinely second-to-none! We are an extremely close bunch that care about each other both in the workplace but also personally as friends too and it can really make the difference!”.
